The race for Arizona governor is heating up.
Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, tossed her hat within the ring on Wednesday. Gov. Doug Ducey’s second time period ends in 2023.

“The opposite aspect is not providing insurance policies to make our lives higher. They’re providing conspiracies that solely make our lives worse. We did our job. They refuse to do theirs. … That is why I am working for governor,” Hobbs stated in her launch video.
“In 2020, in opposition to all odds, in the midst of a pandemic, we proved that democracy works. It has been my job and life’s work to make authorities work for the folks of Arizona,” she stated.
The give attention to Arizona’s 2020 presidential election outcomes raised Hobbs’ profile as she appeared on cable information to take situation with state Republicans. The Arizona state Senate is in the midst of an audit of ballots in Maricopa County that Hobbs has criticized.
“We’ve obtained this state authorities being run by conspiracy theorists proper now. They’re out of contact with on a regular basis Arizonans and that’s holding us again as a state,” she instructed the Arizona Republic.

Arizona hasn’t had a Democratic governor since 2009. Ducey gained reelection in 2018 by roughly 15 factors.
