Former journalist Swapan Dasgupta, who stop his Rajya Sabha seat to contest within the Bengal meeting polls as a part of the BJP and misplaced, was renominated at the moment to the seat he vacated. Mr Dasgupta had contested from Bengal’s Tarakeswar – a Trinamool Congress stronghold — on a BJP ticket within the not too long ago concluded meeting polls. However he was among the many massive variety of BJP candidates who needed to chew the mud as Mamata Banerjee retained energy with a majority larger than even 2016.
The previous journalist had been among the many MPs drawn into the battle for Bengal because the BJP scoured for credible faces for the city voters.
